Founded in 1904, Washington Adventist University is a residential Christian institution welcoming students of all faiths and backgrounds focused on preparing individuals for lives of service, leadership, and civic engagement.
WAU is a coeducational university offering degree programs in liberal arts, sciences, and selected professional fields and is accredited for granting associate (2-year), baccalaureate (4-year), and master’s degrees.
The University follows a semester calendar. Fall semester begins at the end of August or beginning of September. Spring semester begins in January and finishes in May. For further information, see our academic calendar.
The University’s 19-acre campus is located in Takoma Park, Maryland, a residential neighborhood of historic homes and parks bordering Washington, DC. The proximity to the nation’s capital and the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church offers students outstanding internship and cooperative educational experiences, and a wide array of enriching artistic, cultural and service opportunities.
